At last night’s Council meeting the ruling Conservative administration on Amber Valley Borough Council voted to cut the level of allowances paid to its councillors. The effect of this was to reduce the annual amount voted in by Labour in January this by £7,940 (3.5%).
After the meeting Cllr Alan Cox, Leader of the Council, said that every little bit of saving will help the Conservatives to achieve their pre-election promise to reduce Council Tax next April.
